How can Pilates help you stay strong and active?  

Jennifer Bergh will guide you through a variety of moves meant to stabilize the spine and strengthen the deepest muscles of the body through the work of Joseph Pilates and his Pilates Method of exercise.

  • Pilates is a gentle and mindful transition from physical therapy into self-care.  It is an excellent way to rehabilitate the back, shoulders, hips and knees
  • Torso stability and strength in the abdominals, back and pelvic area  (the “core”) help protect the body from injury and improve posture and balance  
  • Increasing flexibility adds to an overall healthy body and improves daily functioning 
  • Pilates complements an active lifestyle and lowers the risk of injury 
  • Working the body as a whole while emphasizing the breath creates a connection between the mind and body   

You will leave your first lesson seeing and feeling the results immediately.

What else you need to know:
  • Your Pilates session will include work on the mat, the Reformer and the Tower or Pole system 
  • A variety of stability and resistance accessories including the Wunda Chair are incorporated to add support and/or challenge as needed  
  • A single session lasts 55 minutes and you will leave feeling worked yet energized, strong and elongated
  • Pilates can be practiced everyday but twice per week is optimal
  • Comfortable clothing should be worn with socks or bare feet

Jennifer has been a Pilates Practitioner for over 15 years.  She completed her 2nd teacher certification in the traditional Pilates Method in 2004. The comprehensive study includes training in mat work, all apparatus, accessories and anatomy.  In addition, Jennifer has taken continuing education to enhance her skills in many areas, including Pilates for special populations, injury rehabilitation and the anatomy of movement. She teaches to the individual, customizing the workout with caring, safety and encouragement. Her cues for mindful movement lead to better body awareness and therefore, a higher quality of life can be achieved at any age.  Her desire is to have each client feel stretched, strong and pain-free after their workout, ready to tackle life’s challenges.
